If you have not already done so, please complete a Rules and Policies agreement once you have carefully read through the rules and policies below, and return to the front office.

Training Requirements, Tuition and Expenses

Please review Troupe Class and Choreography requirements as well as detailed information on Tuition and Expenses carefully.

Competition Schedule

Walker’s Dance Troupe will participate in up to five competitions / conventions each season.

The schedule will be available late Fall. Upon receiving the schedule, please notify the office immediately if you are unavailable for any posted dates prior to the commitment deadline.

Walker’s Dance Troupe will also be participating at a National Competition at the end of the season. All information regarding dates, fees, transportation and lodging will be made available as soon as possible.

Dances will be entered at both Regional and National Competitions at the teacher / choreographers discretion.

Attendance

As a member of Walker’s Dance Troupe, each dancer is expected to attend all assigned classes and choreography sessions.  Regular training is a must in order to reach your fullest potential.  If absence cannot be avoided, you must call the office so that the instructor / choreographer can be notified.

Dancers must arrive at each competition site On Time  (this means check-in time)!  Missing / late dancers have a negative effect on all involved, resulting in a compromised performance.  Dancers who arrive late may not be allowed to perform and may be excluded from future competitions.  Dancers who do not show up for a competition will be excluded from all dances involved for all future competitions that season (too much training time is lost to re-choreograph each time a dancer is missing).

Conduct and Behavior

"Be the Leader of Kindness and Watch How Others Follow."

  • Always adhere to the Studio Dance Dress Code
  • Absolutely NO street shoes on studio floors.
  • Staff and students only in studios.
  • NO food or drinks are allowed in studios.
  • NO unnecessary talking.
  • Hair must be tied back in a bun and off of face.
  • Please be on time for class.
  • Remember we learn by watching, listening, and trying.
  • Do not be afraid to ask questions!
  • Always applaud at the end of class for your teacher, fellow dancers, and yourself.
  • Disrespect or inappropriate behavior toward teachers / choreographers or Troupe members will not be tolerated.
  • Good Sportsmanship is expected from all dancers at all competitions.  During awards, all Walker’s Dance Troupe members must have their team jacket on, pay attention at all times and applaud for all other performers.  At no time should a dancer leave the back stage area before awards have ended.

Discipline

The following course of action will be taken with dancers who neglect to follow these policies:

  1. Verbal Warning
  2. Sitting out of the activity + notification to parent/guardian
  3. Exclusion from the choreography
  4. Dismissal from the Troupe.

Grievances and Concerns

All questions regarding the Troupe program should be brought to the attention of the Dance Director, Janine Walker Walsh. If the director is unavailable, please submit your comments in writing to the front office. A copy will be given to the Dance Director, as well as any teacher/choreographer involved.

After review, a reply will be given or a private meeting of the appropriate parties will be arranged in an effort to resolve any issue documented.

Please do not approach any teacher/choreographer during or in between class time. This takes away from all students, interrupting their instruction or delaying the start of the next class.
